Public Services Librarian | October 2015 – Present

Responsible for supervising all aspects of Public Services in a museum/research library setting while maintaining the highest customer service standards and remaining current with new technology and resources. Position manages all Public Services personnel, including Reference librarian(s), Plant Information specialists, interns, and volunteers. Position oversees the Plant Information office, Interlibrary loan services, and coordinates all Reference and Circulation services. Works closely with staff in other Library departments to ensure coordination, collaboration and optimal use of library resources and collections to proactively seek ways to enhance the library visitor experience.

• Manages the day-to-day operation of the Public Services department

• Develops policies and procedures; devises metrics and benchmarks to evaluate progress of library public services efforts

• Assists library patrons with complex research, reference, and collections inquiries and research strategies

• Creates and maintains web-based research guides to assist and motivate users while increasing access to resources

• Engages users through lectures, tours, web-based outreach and press releases to expand and promote services offered

• Collaborates with other Library staff on special projects related to collection management and web services

• Participates in conferences and workshops to represent the Garden.

Longwood Gardens Library, Archive & Digital Gallery – Kennett Square, PA

Audio Visual Collections Survey Project (part-time, paid) | June 2014 – August 2014

• Assisted users in horticultural library in regard to reference questions and circulation services. Additional work in collection development, cataloging and collection management.

• Worked in institutional archives to process and catalog archival collections and present EAD finding aids. Additional work in creating displays, storage of museum objects, and preservation.

• Organized and ingested digital assets through metadata creation and control and image editing. Additional work includes research, offering tech assistance and instruction to users, and responding to patron requests for digital content

• Rotated through Plant Records Office to be trained in the management of a living collection. Includes the use of BG-Base, (industry-standard database application designed to manage information on biological collections), BG-Maps, (botanical mapping AutoCAD software), and various botanical nomenclature and taxonomic resources.

The State University of New York at Buffalo Libraries, Preservation Department – Buffalo, NY

Student Assistant (part-time, paid) | January 2012 – February 2013

• Conducted bench preservation work including sewing pamphlets, making custom wrappers, ordering and replacing missing and damaged pages, glue-binding copied pages as a step towards reformatting materials, etc.
